  • Some history from home

    As a young teen, this airfield was the best place to learn how to drive. With history looming all around, the vast, unused concrete runways were long and safe. Little did we know the drama that had unfolded only two generations prior.

    Later, I heard rumors of brash young men climbing the green and white aerodrome beacon to stare down the light shaft which illuminated the night for miles in all directions. Dangerous and foolhardy, it was too tempting an idea to refuse. What an amazing sight…
